The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Sukkur, was established on 8.10.1979 under provision of the Ordinance mentioned in (2) above, The Offices of the Board was firstly established in a portion of A. B.D Law College Sukkur, then shifted in the rented bungalows situated in Muslim Housing Society at Military Road Sukkur. The Board occupied its own present premises / officers in the year 1985.
At the time of establishment, the territorial jurisdiction of the Board consisted of the at the time following Districts:
Subsequently from the year 1985 the territories of Nawabshah District excepting Taluka Daulatpur were shifted to BISE, Hyderabad by the Government of Sindh
(a) On establishment of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education at Larkana, the territorial jurisdiction is confined to the following areas:
Later on all the Institutions of Daulatpur Taluka of District Nawabshah were also shifted to Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Hyderabad in the year 2002. The Board is providing examination & certification facilities to the students of the region. The first annual examination of class IX and XI were held in the year 1980, by the newly appointed inexperienced staff with limited resource and meager accommodation. It was a huge task but only by the Grace of Allah, the almighty, both the major examinations were conducted very smoothly. The initial teething and weaning difficulties having been overcome the Board, within one year assumed its normal stature and the performance during the SSC/HSC examination 1981.
To provide maximum facilities to the public of this region, the Board has been liberally acceding to the public demand for opening new centers for the examination. Almost every year the new examination centers are established. BISE Sukkur is leading towards self sufficiency and have to meet their revenue as well as capital demands from examination fees, which is its only source of income. By exercising extreme financial control, adopting strict economy measures and making liabilities on staff and equipment, i.e. to grow step by step with the requirements, the Board has been able to transfer sufficient funds to the development budget.
In order to operate efficiently, the Board has got its own building with a cost of Rs:10.000 million. A piece of land measuring 14 acres was acquired through local administration. It was decided to construct the Board's complex in two phases. The first phase included construction of Administration Block, Chairman's residence, Officers flats, Servant quarters, Auditorium Hall, Bank, Post office, Cafeteria & library, whereas the second phase includes construction of Mosque, youth hostel & mini stadium, which are still to be taken up.
Apart from the above, the auditorium hall has been renovated with all facilities and a pumping station to meet the requirement of potable water for the employees of the Board has also been got installed at kheerthar canal. The newly constructed building is located at Shikarpur Road. Wherein the shifting was made in the year 1986.
In the year 1981 the Boards hockey team participated Inter Board Hockey Championship Pakistan and Inter Board School Championship at Hyderabad. Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Sukkur athletic team participated in all Pakistan Inter Board Athletic Championship at Sahiwal (Punjab) and got fifth position in 10th Boards competition.
Thereafter, the Board is constantly taking part in various games which were held at various places of Pakistan, such as Inter Collegiate Sports for Boys and Girls, Table Tennis, Badminton, Athletics and Hockey, The Boys of the Board (Hockey) took part in all Pakistan Inter Board Hockey Championship held at Sargoha in 1983 and at Sukkur their boys took part in Table Tennis competition at public school, Sukkur. The Board's Badminton team participated in the Inter Board Badminton Championship at Mutan, Kabaddi team participated at Bahawalpur and football team took part at Azad Kashmir. The Board's teams took part in foot ball at national level
